It isn't surprising that Hutchinson and Reno County only had 17% of its eligible voters cast ballots, but it sure is discouraging. It's also a major reason why it is becoming so difficult to get really good people to run for and be elected to public office.

Something isn't working when we can't get growth, new businesses that pay good wages and boost our numbers by at least 100 annually.

The Y hopes to have a selection in a few weeks, followed by ground-breaking this year and an 18-month construction timetable.

Somewhat surprisingly after being scrapped as the Hutchinson district's only elementary school south of 7th Street, Lincoln School has undergone a revitalization and now houses nearly 100 youngsters, along with a staff of 35 to serve preschoolers aged 3 to 5.

A "traffic circle" is like a roundabout designed to slow traffic by making it more difficult for drivers to speed through a portion of the street.

Those racing funds for Victory Village Christian Academy should be commended, as should those who temporarily led city of Hutchinson.

When it comes to spending on nice but far from necessary projects, the award goes to Reno County commissioners.

Still undecided on who you are going to vote for in Tuesday's election? Checking candidate history, qualifications and issue positions is strongly recommended.

Kudos to Hutchinson Vice Mayor Stacy Goss, who recognized the error in making constituents wait until meeting's end to speak.

Let's all await a Guinness decision on having the most 4-way stop signs and be ready to shout with joy when Hutchinson is the winner.
