The Russian Defence Ministry said on September 6 that it attacked Ukraine's 179th joint training centre in Poltava in a strike on September 3rd. Sputnik, citing sources, reported that about 500 Ukrainian soldiers, including mercenaries of NATO nations like France, Germany, Poland, and Sweden, were either killed or wounded in Russia's attack.

A Pakistani man, Shahzeb Khan, was arrested in Canada on September 4 on charges of plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish centre in New York's Brooklyn on the first anniversary of the Hamas' October 7 attack. According to the US authorities, Khan had also been planning to obtain AR-style assault rifles, ammunition, and other materials to carry out attacks.

Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group launched dozens of rockets to target the Israeli border town of Kiryat Shmona early Sunday. Hezbollah, in a statement, said that it had "bombarded Kiryat Shmona with a volley of Falaq rockets in response to the enemy attack that killed the emergency workers in the Lebanese village of Froun." According to the Times of Israel, two rockets hit the city and caused damage.

Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on September 7 India and China must play a role in resolving the Ukraine crisis. Addressing the Ambrosetti Forum on September 7, Meloni said both New Delhi and Beijing can play a key role. She also claimed that the support for Ukraine put Russia into a 'stalemate' position.

Yemen-based Houthi rebels claimed that they shot down an MQ-9 reaper drone of the US military on September 7. Houthis said the US drone was shot down after it was conducting hostile activities over the airspace of the Marib governorate in Yemen. However, the US military told the Associated Press that it was aware of the claim but has “received no reports” of American military drones being downed over Yemen.

Russian forces unleashed long-range Shahed drones across Ukraine on September 7-8. Ukraine said Russia fired 67 long-range drones on Ukraine from two border towns and Crimea. Russian drone debris was also found near the Ukrainian Parliament in Kyiv. However, no injuries or property damage was reported. Meanwhile, Russian forces also liberated the village of Kalinov in Donetsk.

Tensions once again gripped India's northeastern state of Manipur after fresh violence broke out in Jiribam district on September 7. The clashes resulted in the deaths of three suspected Kuki militants and one Meitei man. Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh met Governor L. Acharya and apprised him of the deteriorating situation in the state. He also held an emergency meeting with the MLAs.

The French defence ministry announced on September 6 that it would use frozen Russian assets to finance military aid for Ukraine. The French Defence Ministry, in a statement, said, "The European Commission has agreed with the French Directorate General of Armaments to use these funds to quickly procure priority munitions, artillery, and air defence equipment for Ukraine from the French industry worth 300 million euros [$332 million] by 2024."

CIA director William Burns made a big revelation on Putin's war strategy against Ukraine during the initial days of the invasion in 2022. Speaking alongside the UK's MI6 head Richard Moore for the first time, Burns claimed that "there was a genuine risk that Russia would use tactical nuclear weapons in the early months of the Ukraine war." He added that the sudden breakthrough of Russian troops in the north-east of Ukraine stoked fears that Putin would use the most extreme measures.

Turkey's big action on Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iraq. The Turkish National Intelligence Organization, also known as MIT, has "neutralized" a prominent PKK militant group during a counter-terrorism operation in Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah city. Saliha Aybiyik, who was in charge of terror attacks in Iran, was targeted in an operation.
