A good investment never did so much good. Eventually, more and more people will realize it.

I hope that China doesn't attack anyone, and that its leaders will agree to cut way back on their military expenditures if other powers do likewise. Technology would allow everybody to live comfortable lives if the huge amounts were diverted into positive investments.

Pre-revolutionary French aristocracy, the "Second Estate," didn't pay taxes. Amazingly, America too has a second estate, billionaires who pay virtually no taxes.

Although nearly everybody has resumed in-person meetings, the increase in virtual meetings during the Biden administration has had continuing consequences, many of them beneficial.

Racism remains a serious problem, but empowering government officials to punish the alleged motives for actions that are otherwise completely legal is a step too far.

The states which Republicans carried in 2024 are less industrialized and have less taxable property and incomes than the states carried by Democrats. These states would therefore find it difficult or impossible to increase their tax rates enough to pay for Medicare and Medicaid.

The Declaration of Independence was an important milestone in our national development, and its 250th anniversary is an appropriate time to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses as a body of doctrine.

Voting by non citizens is not currently a major problem. Even the Heritage Foundation, which looked enthusiastically for evidence of it, couldn't find much — certainly not enough tip elections.

Unlike many whodunits and TV crime shows, Americans do not have to prove they are not guilty. Until the burden of proof that someone is ineligible has been shifted to the government, a reasonable proof of citizenship requirement could merit bipartisan support.

Recent personal experience suggests that the climate crisis can lead to financial disaster in the very short run; even those of us in our mid 80s are not immune.
