The annual WIKY Veteran’s Day Breakfast at The Evansville Wartime Museum was another huge success! As always, the breakfast was free to all Veterans, active duty military personnel AND their families, and the 2025 breakfast welcomed over 600 area Veterans! The chow line started at 6:30am, and wrapped up around 10am, with The WIKY Morning Show broadcasting live throughout the breakfast. We want to thank Browning Funeral Home for being our partner once again with this great event. And of course the Evansville Wartime Museum for being an amazing host for the Veterans and their families.

Broadway Avenue will be closed to all thru traffic between Posey County Line Road (“County Rd 1200 E”) and Old Mt. Vernon Road beginning Monday April 6 th after 12pm following the morning commute. This closure is expected to last until Friday August 7 th pending weather conditions. This closure is required to replace the existing 1930’s bridge on Broadway Avenue. The signed detour route will be S. Posey County Line Road to Old Mt. Vernon Road.

Beginning May 4, Ellerbusch Road will be temporarily closed for up to two weeks between Westbriar and Southgate for the installation of a culvert.

A backpack found by the Bally's Casino security team leads to the discovery of several glass contains of fentanyl, baggies, and a crystal substance that tested positive for meth. A debit card was also found in a the bag that identified 38-year-old Kendrick Stevison. He was found sitting at a gambling table and arrested with over $2,700 on him. Stevison has been charged with dealing fentanyl and possession of meth. He's being held without bond.

Narrowing the field in Kentucky where voters will be going to the polls tomorrow for a primary election. Lots of local raced on the ballot as well as statewide races including the race for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Mitch McConnell who first took office in 1985. Democratic front runner Amy McGrath is hoping to do something that hasn’t happened in the Commonwealth in the 21st century, and that’s win the race in the general election in November. To do that she’ll have to win the Democratic primary tomorrow and then go on to defeat the Republican pick tomorrow. Congressman Andy Barr and Attorney General Daniel Cameron are the front runners there.

If you live in Evansville and notice a change in the smell or taste of your water, don’t worry. It’s the annual disinfectant switch. Evansville Water & Sewer Utility says it helps maintain the pipes and water quality in the area. The switch starts today and continues through June 29th.
