The Tar Heels will face Florida State Tuesday at 2 PM to determine who goes home

It’s do or die for UNC if they want to keep going in the College World Series.

For the past few games, Carolina’s superb pitching has been able to let the rest of the Tar Heels ride their back all the way to Omaha. The offense has struggled, only scoring more than four runs ones since their 6-2 win over LSU in the Chapel Hill Regional two weeks ago. But thanks to the starting pitching and the bullpen, the Diamond Heels always seemed to be able to weather the storm until they could get a timely hit that would win the game.

You thought with the last pitch of the College World Series baseball was over? Oh no, now it’s time for the summer leagues.

In conjunction with a move to a higher level of club hockey, the Tar Heels will head to Charlotte for the outdoor game.

The nearly 40 year old Smith Center is next up in terms of renovations.

Jason DeCaro, Luke Stevenson, and Matthew Matthijs all competed for the Red, White, and Blue.

Now with the USA Baseball experience over for the three Tar Heels that spend a couple of weeks in Cary, they and the rest of the Diamond Heels assigned to various summer leagues can concentrate on spending the rest of their summer getting more plate appearances and instruction from different voices. They get to face various hitters they’d otherwise never see, or they start learning the experience of handling and getting at-bats with the wooden bat instead of the metal one used in college.

Cameras were rolling as Maye was interviewed by the Giants and it was impressive.

The Tournament is staying at 68, but new metrics will be used in selecting teams.
