The city of Albany struck out in its first attempt to find an operator for a downtown brewery. The city owns the building and equipment on Pine Avenue and is seeking a Brewer interested in expanding into the Good Life City.

“I saw things like worker’s claims being denied, being fired from their job. That was one of my first experiences with worker mistreatment.”

Residents at Cornerstone apartments, located at 608 Moultrie Road, said that eviction notices were placed on the doors of all of the units this week, giving them three days to pay two months' rent or face being removed in three days. Tenants said they were confused to whom rent should be paid and are frustrated by the living conditions at the complex that is more than 50 years old.

“I think any time you invest in children and youth, you’re always making a great investment. I think it should be a good experience.”

The Albany Police Department gave an update on its Repeat Offender Initiative on Monday to the Dougherty County Commission. The initiative is meant to assist repeat offenders with overcoming some of their problems and to ensure that dangerous recidivists are kept behind bars while awaiting trial.

“We’re here. We said we were going to do it, and we have done it.”

“We can’t tell staff to hire more police officers and then complain at what it costs.”

“A lot of people don’t vote when it’s raining. People don’t do a lot of things when it’s raining.”

James L. Rubino recently assumed the role as executive deputy of Marine Corps Logistics Command in Albany. In his new role he will oversee integrated logistics support.

A 21-year-old Turner Job Corps student who was found unresponsive on Sunday evening was later pronounced dead at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The death is under investigation.
