The Helena Huskies had to fight for their spot in the state tournament, but they battled to finish 3-0 at regionals to punch their ticket to return to Oxford.

The Pelham Panthers did everything they could to keep their season alive at this year’s Class 6A South Regional tournament May 6-7 at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, staving off elimination twice and fighting to the finish before ultimately seeing the season come to an end in a 10-6 loss to Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.

The Shelby County Wildcats put together another strong offensive showing at this year’s Class 5A Central Regional tournament, scoring 12 runs in two games, but the Wildcats ultimately fell in back-to-back games to Tallassee and John Carroll to see the 2024 season come to an end.

The 2024 Regions Tradition Pro-Am brought together the best golfers from the PGA Tour Champions with big stars, including Nick Saban, Kalen DeBoer, Hugh Freeze, Kirby Smart, Riley Green and many others. The Briarwood girls soccer team got redemption from a 2-1 shootout loss to Montgomery Academy last year by beating the Eagles 5-2 in this year’s semifinal game to punch a ticket to the Class 6A State Championship.

The Oak Mountain Eagles took down Huntsville in the semifinals of the Class 7A playoffs on Thursday, May 9, avenging a semifinal loss to the Panthers last year. The Eagles will now take on Auburn for the state championship Saturday.

HUNTSVILLE – After falling behind 3-1 to the St. Luke’s Episcopal Wildcats in the Class 1A-3A State Championship game, the Westminster at Oak Mountain Knights flipped the switch and rallied to take the fight to the Wildcats down the stretch.

HUNTSVILLE – After the full-time whistle blew and the Oak Mountain Eagles mobbed their teammates to celebrate winning the state championship, players and coaches embraced one another in tearful hugs.
