Friday is forecast to be the hottest day this week in southern Colorado, along with some of the driest air of the week. Fire danger will remain very high.

Southern Colorado remains quite hot this week, but rising humidity will help crews fighting the Aspen Acres Fire. Plus, daily afternoon thunderstorms are in the forecast.

Slow-moving afternoon thunderstorms will bring a risk for fire crews fighting the Aspen Acres Fire due to the likelihood of runoff from highly scorched zones.

Another flash flood watch is in place on Thursday from noon until 8 pm for the Aspen Acres Fire. Scattered thunderstorms are expected across the region.

Southern Colorado will experience another round of afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Friday afternoon. This brings a risk of severe thunderstorms with strong winds.

Over the weekend, thunderstorm chances will decrease, and temperatures will increase. The hot and dry weather is here to stay for a while.

Tonight's Forecast: It will be mostly clear to partly cloudy tonight with overnight lows a few degrees above average.

Southern Colorado will be mostly dry and hot this week, with a few mountain showers. But the moisture expands and increases across the state into late July.

It will be getting warmer little by little through the weekend in southeastern Colorado. Heat relief comes next week with better rain chances.
