LEGO has announced the winners of the LEGO Ideas Third 2025 Review Stage which consisted of 75 projects that were in the running. In this round, we have three winners and a lot more that went into the Parking Lot for further review.
The LEGO The Hobbit Barrel Escape (79004) is the second Special The Hobbit Trilogy Preview Set with the other being the Escape From Mirkwood Spiders (79001) set. This means that this particular scene will take place in the second movie, The Desolation of Smaug. This set contains 334 pieces and retails for $39.99. That comes out to $0.14/piece. The box contains two numbered bags and one instruction booklet. This set is a LEGO store, Shop@Home, and a Toys R Us exclusive.
Back in 2015, LEGO released their first large scale Marvel set with The SHIELD Helicarrier (76042) and this year they have revisited the set with the updated S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier (76354). This set has 3,057 pieces and retails for $399.99 which is the second most expensive LEGO Marvel set ever produced.
If you have some free time next weekend, LEGO Brand Stores will be holding a Make & Take event for a Sports Car exclusively for LEGO Insiders. This event will be held on Sunday, July 26 from 12pm-2pm* and is intended for adults 18+. This is one of the very rare times that a Make & Take is catered to adult builders even though it’s a fairly simple build. Perhaps they may have other things in store along with the build.
There are now some official winter 2017 LEGO Juniors sets which comes out from Hoth Bricks. The sets use more LEGO licensed themes like DC Comics and Disney as well as some internal themes like Friends.

There was a lot of LEGO Ninjago news that came out of San Diego Comic Con 2026 panel including one piece of news that may shock you if you’re a fan of the series. The panel consisted of some of the voice actors from the Ninjago show such as Sam Vincent (Lloyd), Vincent Tong (Kai), Paul Dobson (Master Wu), Deven Mack (Arin), Sabrina Pitre (Sora), and Kazumi Evans (Wyldfyre) as well as head writers Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt, LEGO Entertainment executive producer Ryan Burns, and NINJAGO head of product at the LEGO Group Nigel Kong.
August is coming up extremely fast and it will surprisingly be one of the biggest LEGO release months this year. LEGO went ham over the past few weeks with their LEGO reveals for various themes as well as some that were revealed a few months ago. With so many sets to choose from the August release, there is something for everyone.

Last week at San Diego Comic Con 2026, there was the Star Trek: The Collector Frontier panel and designers from Magic The Gathering and LEGO were on hand to show off their newest products. MTG was there to show off the new Star Trek set with the surprise being the signed Headliner card of Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

August is now here and it is a huge LEGO release month on the LEGO Shop for various themes including the release of the LEGO Pokemon SMART Play sets. It is an unusually large month for us in the US since we finally get the rest of the summer 2026 sets for City, Friends, and Ninjago on top of the rest of the other recently announced sets. I’ve listed all the new sets below (hopefully I didn’t miss any) so there is something for everyone.
Season 2 of the One Piece live action show has been out for a while now but LEGO has recently released a new wave of LEGO One piece sets that reflect various scenes from the show. The first one we’ll be checking out is Dr. Hiriluk’s Hideout (75641). The set has 271 pieces and retails for $29.99.
