The Starlandia Faire is a two-day Renaissance festival packed with events meant to immerse visitors in the aesthetics of the past. Within the weekend itinerary, one can find everything from henna tattoos to tarot card readings and vintage markets. People in Renaissance (or Renaissance-adjacent) cosplay fill the streets, transporting Savannah to a distant past. Giant Turkey legs sit upon plastic plates, and whole suits of armor are paired with Converse shoes, creating a mish-mash of past and present.

Students were welcomed back from winter break with giant banners in the dining halls declaring OrderUp dead. OrderUp was the app used to order SCAD dining options for pickup, and in some cases, the only way to order food from specific places, such as Amigos Nuevos. With SCAD’s multitude of apps needed to do anything—one for buses, two for safety, about ten for communicating with different people, millions for major specific work—one less should have been a good thing, but it wasn’t.

John Mulaney’s 2026 tour for his set ‘Mister Whatever’ announced a date in Savannah a couple of weeks ago – and my roommate and I jumped at the chance to grab a ticket. SCAD students know how rare it is for their favourite comedians/singers to perform in Savannah. The show took place last Friday, February 13th, at the Savannah Civic Centre – right next to O-House.

If I had to rank the seasons on a scale of favoritism, spring would take the top spot. To me, this is the real start of the year. It’s when the weighted blankets are swapped for park blankets, the drawer full of shorts is finally dusted off, and the stuffy noses are traded for, well, stuffy noses.

Spring has always been a time of reminiscing for me. My birthday falls in April, and every year I have more memories to wash over me. Oftentimes, the only cure for this wave of nostalgia is specific songs, or rather, a meticulously curated playlist.

There was no doubt in my mind that I would study French when it came time to pick a language class in middle school. My aunts can speak French, my last name is French, why wouldn’t I give it a try? I was pretty okay at it, and graduated high school with a certificate that alleges I’m bilingual. I suppose I can make my way around France or Quebec, as long as the locals don’t talk too fast.

As my junior year comes to a close, I often find myself reminiscing on my life before SCAD. Back home, I went to community college straight out of high school. With both parents at work, I had to depend on public transportation to get to my classes–and there was definitely a learning curve.

The Met Gala is one of the biggest fashion events of the year. What started as a way to fundraise for the Met’s Costume Institute has become another exclusive event for celebrities to flaunt their wealth while the rest of us can hardly afford gas.
