Na’aleh staff enjoyed their summer retreat last week, with team members creating art together, having discussions and sharing some smiles.

Israel Baseball Americas, the nonprofit that oversees the Israeli national teams and works to spur the popularity of America’s game among Jews at home and in Israel, has deep Baltimore ties.

The late U.S. Rep. Elijah E. Cummings served in the House for more than two decades representing the community that raised him. A native Baltimorean, he not only understood the Black community that he was a part of, but the Jewish community of the city, as well. It is largely for that reason that the Elijah Cummings Youth Program in Israel exists today, said Kathleen St. Villier Hill, executive director of the ECYP.
