Sunday marked the first Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Awareness Day walk and conference without Simone Senogles, the woman who was a driving force behind the annual Bemidji event.

The screening event continues from 7 to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14, and Friday, May 15, with proceeds going to support the indoor playground project at the soon-to-be YMCA near downtown Bemidji.

Bemidji Early Childhood Family Education’s annual "Wheels" event offered youngsters and their families a chance to check out all sorts of vehicles, ranging from race cars to dump trucks and everything in between.

The eagerly anticipated event takes place each year on the Saturday before Memorial Day Weekend and is hosted by the Bemidji Garden Club with support from the Beltrami County Master Gardeners.

Amos Ferrier, who grew up in Bemidji and attended Bemidji High School, suffered a head wound after attempting to stop his vehicle from being stolen on Friday afternoon in the Twin Cities.

The Bemidji High School track team wrapped up its regular season with a home invite on Wednesday.

Hosted each year by Ralph Gracie American Legion Post No. 14, the Memorial Day program honors those who have given their lives in service to their country and the families they left behind.

Located in the parking lot in front of Frizzell Furniture in downtown Bemidji, the market will continue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through the end of October, weather permitting.

"Songs for a New World" opens at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, at the Chief Theater in downtown Bemidji. Shows continue at 7:30 p.m. June 5-7 and 11-13, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Wednesday, June 10.

Performances are set for 7 p.m. June 5-6 and 12-13, with 2 p.m. matinees on June 7 and 14 at the BCT Performing Arts Center in downtown Bemidji.
