Nearly 165,000 homeowners applied for property tax relief in North Dakota this year, a penetration rate that nears 100%, the state's top tax administrator said.

The adjustment can be changed as commissioners consider the 2027 budget, County Administrator Robert Wilson said.

The group plans to turn in nearly 4,800 signatures on Friday. If 4,159 signatures are validated, Fargo will have to hold a special election to decide if it will switch to a ward system.

Fargo will get a new mayor and two city commissioners in Tuesday's city elections. A lot of factors are coming together to make this election unique, one expert said.

The plans focus on affordable housing, ending homelessness and developing infrastructure in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. One commissioner said the city needs to do more than "lip service."

Boschee is leading the five-person contest with 47% of the vote. Turnberg is in second with 28%.

Fargo's races on Tuesday, including mayor, represent three of the five seats on the City Commission. The results are incomplete and unofficial.
