RUTHERFORDTON — The Rutherford County high school basketball season brought many twists and turns throughout the year. Highlight dunks, high-level defense, timely three-point shooting, and passionate coaches were all on display as five teams made the state playoffs, with two teams, East Rutherford boys and Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy girls, earning one seeds and the Thomas Jefferson boys team going on a historic run to make the 1A State Championship game.

MOORESBORO — Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy picked up an impressive 16-0 win over Queen’s Grant on Thursday behind a complete-game shutout from Austin Walker and a four-RBI performance from Lincoln Christman..

AVONDALE — Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy picked up a crucial 5-4 win over Jackson Day on Tuesday, clinching the No. 2 seed for the upcoming conference tournament.

MOORESBORO — Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy saw its conference tournament run come to a close Wednesday night, falling 6-2 to Piedmont Community Charter in the semifinals.

The Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy girls track team won the 1A state championship last Friday in Kernersville. It is the school's first state title in girls track and field. Members of the team are, Kate Bukta, Maple Cookson, Aubrey Soper, Haidyn Toney, Sarah Hargro, Naomi Harris, CeCe Brooks, Annie Kinmon, Brooklyn Harris, Demi Terry, Natalie Aiello, Samara Jones and Savanah Waugh.

KERNERSVILLE - Despite dominating the box score on Monday evening, the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA) girls soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to the North Carolina Leadership Academy (NCLA) in the Regional Semifinals of the NCHSAA 1A State Playoffs.
