As part of a Dare to Declare presentation, the Declaration of Independence was read aloud, there was a ribbon cutting for the newest mural in town and several downtown streets were closed to traffic to make way for bounce houses for the kids, while community organizations and businesses set up displays that kept everybody well-informed.

There were cupcakes with candles, party hats, balloons and a card, but this was no ordinary birthday party.

“It's a great way for the community to react with emergency responders and it brings the community together during a calm environment,” March said.
