Athens-Clarke County police arrested a local man Tuesday in connection with an investigation into a sexual assault report downtown. Timothy Renard Evans, 49, of Lake Place, was charged with financial transaction card theft, financial transaction card fraud and identity theft. Police said that more charges could be forthcoming. He is currently being held at the ACC Jail on a $3,000 bond. News that police had questioned a homeless individual rippled throughout the community in recent days. A police report lists an unnamed homeless man with no description as the suspect.
