The owners of Pine Wood Estates North have pledged to fix the mobile home park’s chronic water problems as part of a proposal to expand it and neighboring Country Corners off U.S. Highway 29. Five companies, represented by Bogart-based Carter Engineering, are proposing to add 110 new pads to Pine Wood Estates, bringing it to 410 pads total on about 70 acres. The applicants are seeking a special use permit because the property is zoned agricultural and commercial-rural, categories that do not allow mobile homes (the current ones were grandfathered in). Only half the original plan—two apartment buildings and a warehouse occupied by Terrapin Beer Co. and online furniture retailer Wayfair—was built.
