This is the reality for many farmers across the country like myself. The White House and Republicans, who control both houses of Congress, are dragging on a shutdown because they'd rather force massive increases to health care costs than fund services for basic needs. Simply put, the current shutdown will make our lives more unaffordable and will add needless pressure to the squeeze that so many of us are facing. This shutdown is going to cost us all — farmers and everyone who relies on us — dearly. We need our elected officials to stand up before it's too late.
