By Thursday evening, La Crosse will have just one public library open for business.

The middle of June may be one of the warmest times of the year, but people can always use blankets, no matter the season. Every year, Dahl Subaru of La Crosse donates blankets to patients at Gundersen, as part of a Subaru company campaign, and this year's giveaway happened Thursday at the cancer clinic near the main Gundersen facility.

PULASKI, WI- The Pulaski High School Red Raider Marching Band is preparing for another national stage as it heads to Philadelphia to perform in the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade on July 3.

The new Miss Wisconsin is a woman from Onalaska who has also served as Miss La Crosse-Oktoberfest.

The Juneteenth holiday brought lots of visitors to Riverside Park in La Crosse on Saturday. There were booths throughout the park, and activities celebrating Black history in the region, and around the U.S. La Crosse Mayor Shaundel Washington-Spivey was among the featured speakers, thanking people for showing up to the pools, willing to “engage politically” with the community. “It's really pleasant to be the mayor of the city of La Crosse as the first Black mayor in the city of La Crosse,” said Washington-Spivey.

As America celebrates 250 years of independence from England, people may want to dive farther back into history to learn more about this part of the country. The geographical uniqueness of the La Crosse area is getting some attention, as part of the Driftless region which was left untouched by glaciers.

SHAWANO, WI- County Board Chairman Tom Kautza requested that the Ag Society attend a future Executive Committee meeting to clarify the roles of the Ag Society and Shawano County regarding management of the County Fairgrounds. Committee members discussed Ag Society meetings, public attendance, and the possibility of moving to cashless operations. Land Conservation and Extension Committee Chair Joe Miller said any projects funded with County dollars should follow the County's bidding process through the Maintenance Department. The committee also discussed fairgrounds building ownership and insurance responsibilities, with plans to create a documented list of structures and ownership. Committee members agreed that the Land Conservation and Extension Committee should review and potentially amend the current lease agreement to better define the responsibilities of both the County and the Ag Society.
