Broken Bow hosted Loomis for an American Legion baseball juniors and seniors doubleheader at Paul Brown Field Tuesday night.

The Broken Bow American Legion juniors and seniors baseball teams traveled to Holdrege for a doubleheader Thursday night.

The 49th annual Sertoma 8-Man All-Star football game takes place this Saturday at 6 p.m. in Hastings at Lloyd Wison Field. Recent graduates from eight-man football teams in Nebraska will get the opportunity to represent their teams once again. The rosters will once again be split between east and west and will feature top notch talent from across the state.

The Spirit of the Sandhills “Summer Shootout” Youth Softball Tournament has been canceled for the remainder of the weekend due to weather. Organizers made the decision Saturday morning after severe thunderstorms containing excessive rainfall moved through the Broken Bow area making the fields unplayable.

The 49th Sertoma 8-Man All-Star Football game took place Saturday afternoon at Lloyd Wilson Field in Hastings. The west team dominated the game from start to finish on their way to a 51-0 win. The west team was led by all state quarterback Gage Hedstrom of St. Mary’s of O’Neill who was voted as the west team’s offensive MVP of the game.

The Bow juniors collected their third win of the season with a 7-4 win. Leading 5-4 after four innings, Broken Bow added two big insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to help seal the win. Five different players collected a hit for Broken Bow. Cole Helleberg was 1 for 2 with two runs scored. Nathan Lowry was 1 for 1 with a run scored and one run batted in. Aiden Page had a hit and drove in two runs. Queston Young was for 1 for 2 with a run scored and Zakkary Miller collected a hit for the victorious juniors squad who have now won three of their last four.

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) are pleased to announce the final standings for the Buckle Up Phone Down Cup, the All-Activities Award for Nebraska high schools.

The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team faced the Jersey’s seniors of Kearney in a doubleheader at Paul Brown Field on Monday night. Broken Bow took game one by a final score of 6-0. Jackson Hall started on the mound pitching 3 and 2/3rds scoreless innings to pick up the win giving up just two hits and striking out two. Colton Uhlig pitched three innings of scoreless relief and Kanzas Kellum came on in the seventh inning to get the final out of the game. Offensively, Drew Ellis had two of Broken Bow’s three hits finishing 2 for 3 with a run scored and one run batted in.

The Broken Bow Spirit 18U team hosted the Loup River Sentinels for a doubleheader Tuesday at Melham Park in Broken Bow.
