With her current role coming to an end on July 1, Miles City Flood Plain Administrator Sam Malenovsky sat down to discuss ongoing issues regarding the flood plain in Miles City, making a note of all the work there is still to do. Starting this month, she has moved to a new role in city government, taking over as the City of Miles City Public Works Director, taking over for retiring director Scott Gray.

Kids will soon have a new place to play this summer as local couple Kaylee Ammerman and her husband Curt Ammerman are opening a indoor playground for kids called Horse N Around. The gym will be located at 2417 Bridge St. between Big Sky Financial and the VA Hospital. The facility is 5,000 square feet. The grand opening will be June 11.

Local healthcare workers got a unique hands-on training when Simulation in Motion Montana came to town this past week. SIM-MT partnered with the Department of Public Health and Human Services to have pediatric trauma simulations on Monday, June 3 for the Miles City Fire Rescue.

The Miles City Ranch Rodeo and Bill Harding Memorial Bronc Ride will take place on June 15 for its 15th year.

When voters hit the polls on Tuesday, they didn't just vote for candidates, as three local issues were also present on the ballot and now with results available, it looks as though there won't be any significant changes coming to how local governments operate. Two of those issues, the authorizing of local government study commissions for both the City of Miles City and Custer County ultimately failed, however the reauthorization of a mill levy for economic development in the county was passed.

Brenda Maas, marketing director for Visit Southeast Montana has a lot of praise for her organization’s latest collaboration: a series of new road trip itineraries titled, “Montana’s Great Wide Open.”

Though competition in some primary races was fierce this year, participation in Tuesday's elections was much more tempered in Custer County, as only about 41% of voters cast ballots. In total, 2,829 votes were cast on June 4 out of 6,931 registered voters.

What started as a path to a side job has ended up with one local massage therapy student coming out at the top of her class. When she graduated on Monday, June 10, McKenzie Hirsch was the Valedictorian of her class at Moua Institute of Massage in Miles City, ending her education with a sense of pride and excitement for what is to come in her new career.

The American Junior Simmental Association will be having their annual Western Regional competition in Miles City from June 26 to 29. The American Simmental is the national cattle registry for Simmental cattle in the United State, explained Coordinator Sarah Thorson. It is headquartered in Bozeman.

Families looking for a fun and educational experience won't have to look very far, as Range Days is returning to Miles City once again this month, bringing plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy.
