The four-time major winner is within striking distance of leader Wyndham Clark thanks to a back-nine charge at Shinnecock Hills.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Wyndham Clark will enter the final round of the U.S. Open with the largest lead since 2011, but the world's No. 1 player is in the final group with him.

Fans lining the Shinnecock Hills fairways shouted “get in the bunker!” with every shot as Clark worked his way through the first nine holes.
