BOSTON — The bagpipes and kilts may be gone, but the trumpets and drums are out in full force as England fans make their way into Boston for the World Cup match in Foxboro.

The city of Brockton also provided 300 free meals to all of the students in attendance to enjoy as they watched a local legend make history.

“This is our first time. We ordered tickets as soon as it went live, we’ve been talking about coming here for a year,” Jose Escobar, a Norway fan, said.

Ed Murray, the man whose dash camera video caught the driver coming toward him, said he was driving home with his family at the time.

The event celebrates the founding of the United States 250 years ago. As the tall ships and military ships sailed to their final port, locals and tourists could be seen in the harbor eagerly awaiting their arrival.

More than 50 ships from all over the world are now stationed in Boston Harbor, but even some local ships couldn't miss the opportunity to take part.

“You hear the results of a bar serving someone nine drinks in a short time and then letting them walk out. It’s unforgivable,” Barbara said.

Many bars and restaurants also made changes to their business hours. While some opened early on match days, many also had the option to stay open until 3 a.m.
