FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – The Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward) promotes National Water Safety Month to educate the community on how to safely enjoy Florida’s many bodies of water and prevent drowning.

Many people rinse with water after brushing, but dentists recommend skipping this step. Fluoride in toothpaste strengthens teeth, and rinsing washes it away. Instead, spit and wait 15 minutes before rinsing or drinking water to maximize fluoride’s effect. This is especially helpful for those prone to cavities. Mouthwash should also not be used right after brushing, for the same reason.

Congratulations to Jeffrey Taylor, son of Monique Gilliard Taylor and grandson of Willie Louise Smith Gilliard. On May 3, 2024, Jeffrey graduated Cum Laude from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health, Physical Education & Fitness with an emphasis in Coaching. Jeffrey was also honored and pinned into the Apple Society of Educators. At its core, the pinning ceremony represents the passage of the torch of knowledge and the responsibility that comes with it. This ceremony is a pivotal moment in the journey of pre-service teachers, as it marks the culmination of years of hard work, academic pursuits, and their transition from student to educator. Jeffrey plans to continue his studies in the Spring to receive a Masters Degree in Sports Management. He would like to pursue a career in Player Engagement as a Sports Agent.

It is with immense joy and pride that we announce the graduation of Princess Priest from the University of West Florida. The ceremony took place on Saturday May 4th at the Pensacola Bay Center.

Mrs. Hill was born on January 3, 1939, in Austin, Texas to James E. Mosby Jr. and Eva Marie Melancon -Mosby.

The 123rd Annual Session of the Florida State Primitive Baptist Convention, Inc. was held April 22-26 at the Old West Enrichment Center, Tallahassee, under the leadership of Eighth President Elder Dr. Chris A. Burney. Delegates from Miami to Pensacola attended the Session with the theme “Preparing for Greater” – Jeremiah 29:11.

We will be celebrating Lady Betty Ray and the legacy of our late Pastor, Dr. James Ray, Pastor Emeritus for 33 ½ years of beyond dedicated service to Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, surrounding churches, members, and the entire community.
