What makes the horror genre special is how diverse it is, allowing for unique stories to still be told despite many already existing. Sure, people often think about slashers, but there’s so much more to the category, including paranormal, cosmic, Lovecraftian, body, and more. This wealth of options and creative expression extends to all mediums, including books, movies and video games.

Activision has shared that those who preorder either the standard or Vault Editions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will receive early access to its campaign. Said early access will begin on October 16th, providing the opportunity to play it a week early.

Although I’ve admittedly never had much interest in the National Basketball Association, or other basketball leagues and tournaments, that hasn’t been the case with video games based on the sport. When I was a lot younger, I would often rent NBA Jam for my Super Nintendo, and spent a number of hours playing it solo and with friends. I also owned, and really liked NBA Street, as well as the first NBA Courtside with Kobe Bryant game for N64. Those aren’t the only ones I spent a decent amount of time with, but they’re the main titles of note.

Back in 1993, Trilobite and Virgin Interactive Entertainment released a notable game that you may have heard about. Perhaps you even played it at one point. Either way, that title was The 7th Guest — a puzzle game that used full motion video footage featuring real actors, who portrayed its characters. Back then, that was neat and cutting edge, but it didn’t age too well. Then again, we are talking about a game that released for DOS, and was one of the first to be issued on a CD-ROM.
