Australia once again dominated England in the ongoing Ashes as four wickets stand between them and the urn. The hosts are on the brink of winning the third Test and take an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Day 5 of the Adelaide Test was arguably as well as England have played in this entire series. It was however almost a definitional example of too little, too late, with England getting comprehensively outplayed by Australia across almost all of the 2025-26 Ashes.

A day that began with promise at MCG amid record crowd ended in familiar Ashes despair for England, as 20 wickets fell and Australia emerged with yet another edge in a series that has punished every English misstep.

England ended a 15-year wait for an Ashes Test win in Australia, claiming a thrilling victory at the MCG. Bazball was back in full swing, giving fans a rare taste of triumph in an already lost series. Jacob Bethell’s brilliant century at the SCG has provided England a rare glimpse of hope in a disappointing Ashes tour so far. The young batter helped England avoid another collapse as he staked his claim for the No. 3 spot in the long run.
