The process for providing municipal water to the Macbride Pointe subdivision took another step forward last week as the city council approved a draft agreement, with some minor revisions, between the City of Solon and property owners in the Macbride Pointe Third Homeowners' Association. The ongoing discussion has been the subject of controversy with many residents expressing their opposition to city water being sent to subdivisions outside of the city limits.
MOUNT VERNON — The varsity boys soccer season ended Friday night on their archrivals' turf as the Mount Vernon Mustangs won 1-0 to advance to the State Tournament. The Mustangs largely kept the Spartans contained throughout the first half, allowing limited incursions into their own territory. Mount Vernon's Jaxon Anderson broke through Solon's stingy defense to score with 35:12 remaining in the second half. Solon's offense kicked into high gear in the final ten minutes but were denied a goal.
The No. 13-ranked Solon Lady Spartans had no trouble whatsoever with unranked West Liberty last Thursday in a Class 1A Region 1 Quarterfinals match at home, shutting out the Comets 10-0.
