Lock, Stock and Barrel Shooting Range in Grantville is scheduled to reopen Sept. 5, more than four years after the murders of Tommy and Evelyn Hawk and their grandson, Luke Hawk.

Grantville will pay off the remaining $260,753.82 balance on a USDA Rural Development loan, a move Mayor Richard Proctor said will leave the city debt-free.

The former Grantville Yarn Mill property was rezoned from General Industrial to Mixed Use Development by the Grantville City Council on Monday. The rezoning covers approximately 14 acres associated with the former mill.

Dennis McEntire, former general manager of Newnan Utilities, has been elected chair of the State Transportation Board of Georgia.

Mayor James Shepherd said Newnan operates five license plate readers and does not have facial recognition or other advanced surveillance features enabled. The city also does not share its Flock data with federal agencies, he said.

The Newnan City Council discusses proposed changes to its meeting procedures Tuesday. The council voted 4-2 to move forward with drafting an ordinance that would overhaul rules that largely date to 1972.

The Rotary Club of Newnan is accepting applications for its 2026-27 community grant program, which provides funding to nonprofit organizations serving Coweta County.
