Tennessee basketball freshman phenom Nate Ament is preparing for his upcoming NBA career. After one season with the Vols, he has declared for the draft and is widely considered a projected top-10 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Four-star tight end Malik Howard committed to Tennessee football on Saturday morning choosing the Vols over Miami, Notre Dame, Texas and Vanderbilt.

After one year with the Tennessee Volunteers, freshman wing Nate Ament is heading to the NBA. He’s expected to be a lottery pick in the draft later this month, but there have still been some polarizing scouting reports as draft experts try to narrow down his draft range.

The most common report early on was that he could be a fit in Milwaukee with the Bucks’ 10th overall pick. Then, over the next few weeks, other teams began to emerge into the fold.

Tomorrow, June 23, the 2026 NBA Draft begins with the first round airing on ABC/ESPN, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Then, the second round will begin on June 24, also at 8 p.m., on ESPN to conclude the 60-pick event.

The opponents and game locations are set for Tennessee basketball’s 2027 schedule, Jon Rothstein first reported and a source confirmed to RTI on Tuesday.

Nate Ament became the highest drafted Tennessee player in the NBA Draft in over 20 years when the Miami Heat selected him with the 13th pick and immediately traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of the deal that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami.
