Kingston Flemings was drafted No. 8 by Atlanta with his family by his side including his mother, Shayla, his father Demetric and siblings. Flemings played one season at the University of Houston, averaging 16 points per game, before declaring for the NBA draft. Being picked No. 8 has marked him as the highest-drafted player from San Antonio since 1992 - when Shaquille O'Neal went No. 1 overall to the Orlando Magic.
