Mayor Steffenson wanted to thank residents for their participation in the recent city survey which covered many topics including questions around city wide water softening discussions. The Mayor also provided an update on the ongoing 2027 city budget process. The community center construction continues to move forward with significant steps recently completed and new businesses are open to customers in the community.

The 2027 city budget process is well underway in Robbinsdale. Learn more about key elements of the budget and the steps that are ahead for the city. The City of Maple Grove provides residents two ways to dispose of items that might be a bit tricky to get rid of, such as appliances, tires, and other unwanted items. Full details are available at maplegrovemn.gov/591/City-cleanup-events but here are the basics. On Monday, September 28 a residential Curbside Pickup is offered. Residents must sign up in advance by September 21st at 3:30pm. Then place items (appliances, air conditioners, and tires only) at the curb by 7 a.m. on the 28th. The associated pickup fee is added to your utility bill. In addition, a community cleanup day is set for Saturday, October 3rd. In addition to appliances, air conditioners, and tires, Maple Grove residents can drop off propane tanks and scrap metal, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Facility on Forestview lane.

Maple Grove City Administrator Heidi Nelson provides a recap of the 2026 City Survey. Key questions addressed in the recap include what stood out most from the 2026 survey, what do residents value most about Maple Grove, what are residents telling the city about safety and city services, where do residents want the city to focus, what did the survey tell the city about specific initiatives such as the yard waste site or water softening, and what happens next with the survey results. All are invited to come to the Crystal Community Center on Saturday, September 19th from 10am to 2pm to see vehicles that go through your neighborhood. A variety of trucks and cars will be on display to explore. It's a great photo opportunity and the event is free! Non-perishable, free-will food donations for the local food shelf will be accepted. Also learn about the Maple Grove Oktoberfest, New Hope Trick or Trot, the Oktoberfest Luncheon at Edinburgh USA and a Community Police Academy.

Chief Flesland shares details about the Crime Dashboard which can be found on the cities websites. The website also contains information on flock camera use and the police policy manual. With school starting the Chief offers some tips around bus and walking to school safety.

The 2027 city budget process is well underway as the city council begins to review requests from city staff. The primary election is over in the city and the focus now turns to the general election in November. Construction on the CAPI building on Brooklyn Blvd continues.
