A little freshening, a better break, and a sweet trip all led to Sippin Pretty pulling a 26-1 upset in Friday’s Grade 3, $225,000 Victory Ride Stakes at Saratoga.

Ole Crazy Bone got away with a soft early pace and then held off a resurgent Fort George to win Saturday’s Grade 2, $250,000 Bowling Green Stakes by a nose at Saratoga, despite an almost costly and rare mistake from jockey Flavien Prat.

There will be a pick-6 carryover of $166,702 into Sunday's card at Saratoga.

Magnitude, who has risen to the top of the older dirt male division through the first half of the year, returned to the worktab Sunday morning at Saratoga, breezing a half-mile in 50.23 seconds over the Oklahoma training track.

Paladin, winner of the Grade 2 Risen Star in February who was knocked off the Triple Crown trail in March due to a non-displaced condylar fracture, returned to trainer Chad Brown’s barn late last week. Following Ole Crazy Bone’s narrow victory in Saturday’s Grade 2, $250,000 Bowling Green Stakes, trainer Mike Maker said the plan was to point to the $2 million Kentucky Cup Turf Invitational on Sept. 5 at Kentucky Downs. Ole Crazy Bone won that race last year. Owner Jay Provenzano has a different plan.

Lord Flintshire has a trio of bullet workouts at the Fair Hill training center in preparation for Thursday's $75,000 Jonathan Kiser Memorial Novice steeplechase at 2 3/8 miles that kicks off the third week of the Saratoga meet.

There are a pair of races for 2-year-olds on Saturday’s Saratoga card that figure to garner perhaps even more interest than usual. Race 1, a six-furlong event for males, features the debut of Powerline, a son of Flightline who brought $1.8 million as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale last August.

Mr Percy, a slight favorite over Cyber Ninja, outfinished that rival in the stretch to win Thursday’s $75,000 Jonathan Kiser Memorial Novice Stakes by a half-length at Saratoga. It was 7 1/2 lengths back to Lynches Knock in third.
