Work continues on replacing water meters

Four members of the Century Town Council gave unanimous approval Tuesday night to proposed increases in fees the town charges for residential and commercial building permits., including a 10-fold hike in variance applications.

Century residents and area non-profits got an early Christmas present Tuesday night, when the community's governing body voted unanimously to lower the rental rate for use of the town's community center. The new rate is less than half the amount previously charged for use of the facility.

More than a dozen people showed up at Century's Soul Train Club Monday night, Dec. 8, for the first meeting in a series of sessions designed to reduce crime and the fear of crime within the rural Florida community.

Although there was a slight revamping of the governing panel's leadership, most of Tuesday's Century Town Council meeting was spent on the multitude of infrastructure and other projects that are either under way or on the drawing board.
