STEVENSVILLE — On March 2, the annual Kent Island Federation of Arts "Children's Showcase" exhibit opened for viewing to the public. The show is a diversified exhibit of Queen Anne's County Public Schools and homeschool student's art, including a wide range of watercolor paintings, oil paintings, sculptures, and much more. Over 100 children and their parents attended the opening of the exhibit on Saturday.

Newly opened at the end of 2023, Queen Anne’s County YMCA in Centreville is the largest YMCA on the Eastern Shore covering more than 70,000 square feet indoors. The new Y is located directly across from Queen Anne’s County High School.

“Let’s roll!” Josephine Titus, of Stevensville, attended this year’s Senior Summit held at the 4-H Park in Centreville, Friday, May 19. She arranged to be transported by the county’s free handicapped accessible bus, pictured behind her. She was one of more than 400 county seniors who attended the event.

“When I was either seven or eight years old, I thought I didn’t like music. Coming home from school one day, my dad, who was a truck driver, was playing music on his truck stereo outside. The sounds I heard that day made me ask him, “What kind of sound is that?!” He was playing Otis Redding and Al Green music. It changed my whole idea about music. I loved it, to the point that I later became a touring musician for many years.”“Santa brought me an outside trampoline for Christmas one year. As an active child, that was my favorite and most memorable gift.”
