REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Two of Central Oregon's top softball teams battled it out on Tuesday, as Ridgeview knocked off undefeated Caldera 4-3 in a statement win. After Caldera jumped out to an early lead behind strong pitching and an RBI from Brooke Chapin, Ridgeview responded with timely hitting, including a triple from freshman Sophie Robertson and an RBI from Josie Hopper to keep things close. The game turned in the fourth when Brezlyn Hagemeister sparked the offense and freshman Honey Sue Nunez launched a two-run home run, the first of her career, to tie it. Ridgeview carried that momentum into the fifth, where Addy Cummings drove in the go-ahead run, and Hagemeister dominated in the circle down the stretch, striking out key batters to seal the victory. The win hands Caldera its first loss of the season while Ridgeview improves to 13-4 and evens the season series.
