Aaliyah, Ever and dozens of other girls are in Fairfield to learn about civics as part of the annual Girl Scouts in Government Day. On this day local girl scouts shadow town government officials in an effort to learn more about how some municipalities operate.

The town installed several autonomous speed cameras in several school zones. . First Selectperson Christine Vitale said the cameras are there for a good reason.

Town officials say the cameras are in response to a growing speeding problem near schools. Vitale said in a statement to Connecticut Public that the cameras are already beginning to reduce speeding rates in town.
