The city council on Wednesday set the next school budget referendum for June 9, the same day as primary elections.

The public indicated in last week's vote that the budget is 'too high.'

Just days after faculty at the University of Maine at Augusta passed a vote of no confidence against the university's president, the UMaine System renewed the president's contract.

The vote against President Jen Cushman was unanimous.

'It will be sad to leave, but I’ll have a fresh start and new opportunities beyond what I can experience in Lewiston,' one student said.
