NHS England has appointed a charity CEO to the new role of national director of patient experience.
Emily Townsend is a journalist at HSJ, where she serves as a senior correspondent focusing on patient safety and care quality, particularly in maternity services and regulatory bodies like the CQC, while covering the West Midlands region. With a background in mental health, learning disabilities, and autism, Emily has established herself in health and wellness reporting, earning recognition as the BJA specialist journalist of the year 2024 and being named among the best national journalists under 30 in 2023. Her work has been featured in HSJ Local, JD Supra, Goodwin, HQN, and Gridley Herald.
