Middle school, eighth grade in particular, can be a tough time in many teens’ lives, but for Danielle Packard it’s the perfect age to teach.
Requests range from a $57 million bond in Kimberly to build a performing arts center to a $200,000 supplemental levy in Mackay to pay for athletics and building utilities over two years.
Payette Superintendent Glen Croft knew voters in his district might not go for an increased plant-facility levy, but he thought they would support raises for paraprofessionals and other staff members who make less than burger flippers at local fast food joints.
Statewide, voters supported most of Tuesday’s supplemental levies, which largely pay teacher salaries and cover extracurricular costs. But voters rejected nearly all ballot measures related to school facilities.
