🏆Alteration: The largest project approved last week was a $50 million conversion at 19 South La Salle Street, where plans were greenlit for interior and exterior alterations to convert the existing 17-story office building into a mixed-use property. The landmark 132-year-old building was designed by William Le Baron Jenney, widely credited as the father of the skyscraper. The conversion project will feature ground-floor retail, a 32-room hotel across the second and third floors, and 175 residential units spanning the fourth through 16th floors, along with a partial 16th-floor rooftop deck. Envoi Partners is the owner, and the architect is James Plunkard.

DWS' retail real estate investment trust, RREEF Property Trust, bought the property at 1341 North Paulina Street in 2015 for $94 million in a transaction that also included several properties along the adjacent corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Ashland Avenue.

The reported cost of the work is $4.4 million. The owner is Michael Herman and the architect is Todd Wiltse.

The Newark, New Jersey-based investment giant, the asset-management arm of Prudential Financial, sold the SoNo East Apartments for $125.2 million to Austin, Texas-based RPM Living, public records show. The per-unit price for the high-rise at 840 West Blackhawk Street comes out to about $386,000 but ground floor commercial space slightly skews that figure.
