Temps Stay Below Average this Weekend - Few Showers

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Pleasant temperatures and much drier air has settled in, giving us a break from the Summer heat and high humidity.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - First Alert Weather Day - Tuesday, for the threat of severe storms by afternoon and evening. All severe hazards at play, the highest is damaging wind gust 60-70+mph, followed by spotty large hail and while much lower, but not zero, an isolated tornado. A level 2 out of 5 for severe storms across the Mid-Atlantic region. The time frame generally 2 PM - 10 PM Tuesday. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - First Alert Weather Day continues until early tonight. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 PM. Some scattered severe storms impacted parts of the area earlier Tuesday afternoon and evening. The main threat is damaging wind gusts, followed by spotty large hail and while much lower, but not zero, an isolated tornado. Locally heavy rain with any storms, but not everyone will receive rain. These storms are in advance of an approaching strong, Summer, cold front and these storms are developing on the edge of a big heat ridge to our west.
