Illinois State University's new indoor practice facility is getting more use than expected, according to interim athletics director Jeri Beggs.

Police Chief Steve Petrilli said the rise in thefts and car burglaries reflects a rise in crimes of opportunity, and he said the trend in manageable.

Laughlin spent over 40 years as a radio host in Central Illinois. Most of that was in Bloomington-Normal, first as a music deejay at WBNQ where he worked from 1982 to 1996. In 2000, following two short-term radio stints, he moved to WJBC, the community's heritage news talk station, where he would soon take over as its morning show host and become the station's top personality for close to 20 years.

Macon County court records indicate Jonathon Hovey, 52, reached a plea agreement in which prosecutors agreed to drop a felony charge of stalking and causing a person distress. Two weapons charges against Hover were also dropped.

Police say they were called to the 2100 block of North Gale Avenue about 1:25 a.m. Saturday for a report of a person being shot. Officers found the man inside the vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The two-vehicle crash happened on Orange Prairie Road near the Louisville Slugger Complex at 11:39 p.m. Saturday, coroner Jamie Harwood said in a news release.
