Six years after the explosion in the port of Beirut on August 4, 2020, which killed more than 220 people and devastated entire neighborhoods, the call for justice continues to rise from the grief of survivors and victims' families. Pope Leo XIV met with relatives of victims during his Apostolic journey to Lebanon, visiting the port for a moment of silent prayer. Hundreds of Assyrians held a protest in Tel Keppe, a Christian town in the Nineveh Plains, following a formal submission by three Assyrian political parties of a memorandum to Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi urging him to immediately halt the distribution of land in Nineveh to non-indigenous residents. The demonstrators expressed alarm at what they described as a systematic effort to alter the demographic character of the region.

The return of thousands of displaced Christians to their places of origin in Iraq, supported by ACN following the defeat of Islamic State, could serve as a model for responding to the crisis facing Christian communities in Nigeria's Middle Belt. Today, the monastery accommodates a community of friars and an aspirancy house where young people explore their vocational calling.
