KNOWLESVILLE – The second annual corn-on-the-cob eating contest was a highlight at opening night Monday of the Orleans County 4-H Fair.

KNOWLESVILLE – The 2026 Orleans County 4-H Fair opened Monday night with the traditional flag-raising by the Orleans County Honor Guard, featuring veterans from all posts in the county.

MEDINA – The Medina Triennial continues into the summer with a special presentation from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Medina Railroad Museum by world-acclaimed interdisciplinary artist Selva Aparico, whose work centers on sculpture and installation.

KNOWLESVILLE – Beatrice “Bea” Young got a surprise on opening day of the Orleans County 4-H Fair. When she arrived to watch her great-grandchildren show their animals, she learned they were going to take a family picture.

MEDINA – Seventeen-year-old Jake Jackson, a student at Lyndonville High School and an avid pool player, is in New York City, where he is competing in the World Chinese 8 Ball Stop.

Ten local youth enjoyed a week of camping last week at Camp Long Point in Penn Yan. Andrew Szatkowski of Medina led an effort to secure scholarships and fundraising so the kids could go to camp.

MEDINA – Walking down Main Street, Pastor Barb Brewer from The Grove United Methodist Church couldn't help hearing the music playing and thinking how nice it would be to have a community choir.

POINT BREEZE – The Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum's annual fundraising event will feature an evening of music, along with the usual extraordinary dessert buffet.

A highlighted event this weekend is a screening and conversation with artist Jane Jin Kaisen and Toronto-based curator Noa Bronstein at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Triennial Hub headquarters on North Main Street.

MEDINA – Roland Martin never thought much about getting old. He just took one day at a time he said at a reception last Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church to celebrate his 100th birthday. Looking much younger than his years, he greeted well-wishers at the church, where he is a lifetime member.
