FOX News host Greg Gutfeld on Friday's edition of "The Five" reacted to criticism of President Donald Trump changing the Department of Defense to its former name, the Department of War.SANDRA SMITH: Greg, do you see any problem with this? By the way, that was fresh, just a few moments ago.GREG GUTFELD: I can smell it.SMITH: They're actively -- they're actively changing the names on those government buildings, as you can see, removing the defense.GUTFELD: I love the idea of changing names to represent the ideal, right? It's pure persuasion. This is why a lot of the liberals like Jessica have to psychoanalyze him, because they don't understand persuasion.When you have somebody like Van Hollen who speaks like a lawyer, you're never going to persuade anybody. They should do this with all the departments. The ATF, which is Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, just call it the Department of Fun, the IRS, the Department of Extortion, the Department of Indian Affairs, casinos, casinos. TSA just call it second base.But Trump is the most antiwar president I've ever had the pleasure of being alive for, and all of his strikes, as you know, are highly specific, and you can only do that with a really, really powerful war machine.We predicted that the taking out the narco terrorists, in a matter of time, the media and the Dems would side with the narco terrorists because Trump did it, and also because their problems, i.e. the bad guys, always seem to matter more than ours, Americans, whether it's fentanyl, gangs, sex trafficking.I'm sure one of those drug smugglers, we will find out through Van Hollen owned a puppy and used to read to his grandma late at night.But we talk about the past, we don't have to go that far for this distinction, Trump was making a distinction about the last four years, what did Biden do to the Department of Defense? He turned it into a laboratory for social experimentation. It wasn't about protecting the country. We saw it. Everybody knew it. It was about making it an enlightened vehicle for the rainbow people.They treated the military like a Disney remake. You know, let's update all the characters, right? We'll add a gay here, put a trans there, a non- binary woodland elf, and then Trump enters the picture. He says, no, no, no, no, no, it's about war, and if it doesn't fit that definition, we don't want it.His critics don't understand this, and he drives him crazy because he operates on a superpower they don't have, which is persuasion. What is persuasion? Blunt language, usually that's pretty colorful and memorable, Department of War.You know, he understands incentives and disincentives. Department of War is a disincentive. What he also has you think past the sale, calling it the Department of War, then has you accept the premise in its own title.So, when you hear things, you go, we need new missiles, Department of War. That sounds about right. We wanted Diversity Month. Is that diverse? Is that Department of War? No, it isn't.So, he creates this world for you, and it drives the left crazy, because they still haven't found the person who can do this, Jessica.JESSICA TARLOV: I can do it.

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld snapped after Jessica Tarlov mentioned that people didn't pay as much attention to the shooting death of Democratic Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman as the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and characterized Tyler Robinson as coming from a "conservative family."GREG GUTFELD: We don't need more information. We don't need it. What is interesting here is why it's only this happening on the left and not the right?JESSICA TARLOV: What about Melissa Hortman?GREG GUTFELD: Do you want to talk about Melissa Hortman? Did you know her name before it happened? None of us did. None of us were spending every single day talking about Melissa Hortman. I never heard of her—JESSICA TARLOV: So she doesn't matter?GREG GUTFELD: Don't play that bullshit with me. You know there was no what I'm saying is there was no demonization amplification about that woman before she died; it was a specific crime against her by somebody who knew her. Bring up Josh Shapiro, but you will not bring up, for example, that was a pro-Palestine person. Don't use your "what about this" angle. The fact of the matter is the both-sides argument not only doesn't fly — we don't care. We don't care about your both-sides argument. That sh-t is dead to us. There is no cognitive dissonance on our side too. On your side, your beliefs do not match reality, so you're coming up with these rationalizations: "What about this," or "what about that?"We are not doing that because we saw it happen. We saw a young, bright man assassinated and we know who did it. We are not coming up with rationalizations. We are calm, we are honest, and we are resolute. We are not defensive. I understand the defensiveness. I understand why people are saying "what about this" and "what about that." If you have to face the underlying fact of this, your life is going to fall apart because you're going to realize you're not the good guys. If you sat around and defended the mutilation of children, you're not the good guys. If you set 600, 700 cases of harassment against Republicans and you said "but what about this" and you see this murder after calling somebody a fascist, you realize maybe I'm not the good guy. That is a hell of a realization to deal with. Therefore, you have to grasp at rationalizations. You don't have to do that, Jessica. They do. I don't believe you're part of that group, but why do you have to mimic and echo that to us?He was a patsy— that guy was a patsy. He was out of the hypnotic spell of a direct-to-consumer nihilism -- the trans cult and you know that. If you can decide biology is false, you can agree that murder is okay. That humanity is expendable. How you cannot see that alone and see that for what the evil it is without having to attach all these other things is beyond me.JESSICA TARLOV: I want to be clear. I want to let people speak. In no way intended at all to minimize what happened to Charlie. I was horrified by it.GREG GUTFELD: And the two-sides argument—JESSICA TARLOV: No, all I was saying is can we have all of the information before you say they did this? That is a broad brush to paint with this.GREG GUTFELD: "Let's have a conversation." Charlie had a conversation; he got shot. I'm sorry—you weren't here for a week. You came in here and it's cold, and I'm sorry, but this is a story that is immune to news cycles; it's immune to rationalizations. This thing is with us for good too. We all have to deal with that. That means we can't live by the same arguments you might be reading about relativism among the media; we can't deal with those stories. The media is dead to us on this story. They built this thing up. We are dealing with it. We are going to act. We don't care what the "what about" is anymore, that sh-t.

Or is there something that we always knew about them? They need to have other people suffering for them to find something to do?" The reason why he won't get it is that he's legitimately working on behalf of the American people. It's America first, not Belgium first, and European elites like that guy was talking they can't stand that -- they know Americans don't care, but it bothers them that the President doesn't because they're supposed to kneel before them.And the great thing about Trump is that his personal goals, like he would like to be great and do well, align perfectly with the voters. I don't know if that's ever happened before, because imagine the opposite, if the President's aims don't align with the people, we live through that, why did the Biden White House preside over such nonsense like open borders, recidivist crime wave, men in women's sports, censorship lockdowns targeting citizens over speech. These were products of a government in which their aims were not ours, and so when they achieve them, they felt good. But the American public were like, what the hell is going on? Their highlights, our leaders' highlights were our low lights.And I think now -- I think we -- this is the closest a president has ever aligned to voters. Every issue he's on the right side. Planted a flag on the hill of common sense. Now it turns out that hoax was based on an even bigger hoax.Enter the Southern Poverty Law Center--the self-appointed hall monitor of hate. The group that's made bank pushing the myth that the Klan is hiding behind every Cracker Barrel, when the real racists in hiding were them.The DOJ revealed that the SPLC has been indicted by a grand jury for using millions in donor funds that went to hate groups like the KKK and neo-Nazis.Roll it.ACTING ATTORNEY GENERAL TODD BLANCHE: "As the indictment lays out, after SPLC paid members of these extremist groups, it created work product that reported on these activities that the members participated in or contributed to. And to that end, it was doing the exact opposite of what it told its donors it was doing--not dismantling extremism, but funding it."GREG GUTFELD: I would say you can't make this stuff up, but that's exactly what these hate mongers were doing--funding the very extremist groups they claimed to fight.That's right--the arsonist may have been running the fire department. It's like donating to save the whales and finding out the money was going to feed The View.See, the SPLC had a problem. People just weren't being racist enough to keep them in business--no matter how many times Jesse calls Charles Payne "Al Roker."After all, your fundraising, your relevance, and your media hits depend on the existence of widespread hate. But what happens when there isn't any?Time to hire an intern who knows how to tie a noose. You add Turning Point USA to your hate map, or the Family Research Council, or a group that opposes illegal immigration. Hate morphs into ideas that liberals hate--especially since it's the only tool they have to ruin people by calling them bigots.And the media ate it up for years. Every hate map was treated like gospel. If they said your neighbor's bowling league was a hate group--boom, front page, no questions asked.Meanwhile, the actual number of active hate groups in America has been about as robust as Blockbuster Video.But that didn't stop the fear machine--because fear keeps the lights on, fear keeps us divided, and fear gets people elected. And now we know the SPLC helped fund it--with the Unite the Right rally, which gave us the "fine people" hoax, where Trump was accused of equating Nazis with peaceful protesters.So to repeat: the entire narrative of Biden's candidacy was based on a hoax created by a left-wing group, then protected by the media, who did no investigation into who these people were.The media is oddly incurious--in addition to corrupt and stupid.We never found out who those people with the torches were, did we? Yet the same mob was able to track down January 6th grannies.Which is why it's not just about the SPLC. It's about the politicians who embraced them, the corporations that donated to them.Hell, Apple gave them a million bucks. So did George Clooney.And then there's the media outlets who needed to make the lies true--so they can say it's racist to deport people in the country illegally, so that everyone in the next Star Trek is trans, and that hiring based on merit is as out of date as the canned beans I donate to food drives.Of course, these allegations will have to be proven in court--but the plot is exposed.Fact is, America is one of the least racist societies in human history. And that's bad for business if your business is racism.
