Hazelnut growers organised a march in Fatsa ahead of the forthcoming announcement of the minimum purchase price. During the march, which saw a high turnout, participants stated: “Hazelnuts are not just an export commodity; they are the Black Sea region’s source of livelihood.” Speaking on behalf of the Fatsa Hazelnut March Organising Committee, Özdemir said that hazelnut growers were struggling not only with low purchase prices but also with input costs, the brown stink bug infestation and losses caused by agricultural frost.

The Framework Law – which MPs from the People’s Alliance signed without having seen it, whilst the opposition has adopted a cautious stance – is expected to be submitted to the Speaker of Parliament today. There are plans to establish a committee to “coordinate the reintegration processes of organisation members who have laid down their arms”.

With MAPEG’s new tenders, dozens of new mining areas – with a total size equivalent to 72,000 football pitches – will be transferred to mining companies. Whilst the majority of these areas are located in zones subject to authorisation, the largest portion of the tenders has once again been allocated to metallic mining.

Whilst workers are being crushed by inflation, profits, luxury consumption and wealth continue to rise unabated. Economist Prof. Dr Bahçe states, “The problem we are facing is not an economic one, but a vital issue of distribution that threatens the very lifeblood of workers.”

The pressure on social opposition and interference with press freedom have reached the level of ‘interference with the right to freedom of expression’. The Constitutional Court identified 76 violations of freedom of expression in the cases it examined during the first half of 2026 alone.
