A severe storm overnight tore through the heart of Germantown, Illinois. That’s just north of I-64 about 45 minutes east of Downtown St. Louis. Winds were so strong it snapped trees in half, pulling them onto homes, and tore down power lines Monday night.

On Thursday, Missouri Dept. of Transportation officials along with the Federal Highway Administration are expected to give an update about a plan to close a stretch of eastbound lanes on I-64/40 for roughly a year. This area is in Midtown in the City of St. Louis, between Boyle and Compton avenues. The project would start in late 2027.
