Department of Justice subpoenas targeting several Minnesota government officials have been thrown out by a federal judge. The subpoenas issued during the height of Operation Metro Surge, alleged Minnesota officials conspired against federal ICE agents in their efforts targeting immigrants in the state.

But for Valerie Castile, it was one she remembers daily, yet one she wishes she could forget. It was the day her son was taken from this earth – shot five times for having both a broken taillight and a “wide-set nose.”

Additionally, there are some 350 businesses in the area. They're grocery stores, restaurants, barber shops, tattoo parlors, coffee shops, garment shops … community hubs. There's Metro State University. And halfway through 2026, collectively they have been going through it.
