Islanders may recognize Dave Anderson from his array of community activities. He currently serves on the board of the Joyce L. Sobel Family Resource Center, as well as being a member of the Town’s Art Commission. Most importantly, he is a father.

During a budget discussion June 24, San Juan County Manager Jessica Hudson proposed a reorganization of the counties green programs, including eliminating the Environmental Stewardship Department Director position, moving the marine program to Parks and Fair, and shifting utilities (like solid waste) to County Administration, where 50 of the Assistant County Manager’s salary would be designated over to those programs.

As the nation prepares for its 250th birthday festivities, the San Juan Island National Historical Park has much to celebrate as well. Sobel Family Resource’s Padea Center, the nonprofit SJI K9 Detection Club established The Yard. As the title suggests, this is a secure area where people may bring their dogs to play or practice skills such as scent detection or ball-herding, which Tag was engaged in with her owner, SJI K9 Board Member Lisa Holt.
