The Northshore and parts of New Orleans East took on between two and four inches of rain this morning as downpours passed across Southeast Louisiana Monday morning, and forecasters say that's just a preview of what's to come during the next few days.

According to sheriff’s office officials, Imyri Johnson was fired and arrested on Monday following an internal investigation.

Part of the Louisiana Gulf Coast is under a tropical storm watch after the National Hurricane Center upgrades the chances of a low pressure system that is hovering over Texas to become a tropical cyclone.

"I think it's going to take us a little while for everything to work out," AAA's Don Redman said. "There's a lot of hope that we will see those prices under $3 certainly as we get through the end of the summer."

The tropical system off the Texas coast has developed into Tropical Storm Arthur. NHC forecasters expect Arthur to move inland over southwestern Louisiana by tonight. While the center of circulation will hover over the western part of the state, forecasters expect the heaviest rainfall over the Baton Rouge area and the Northshore.

Post-Tropical Storm Arthur spawned at least one tornado in the New Orleans area and one in Mississippi early Thursday morning, causing damage across the metro.

"We're anticipating around 23 percent, I think," Secretary of State Nancy Landry said.
