The tropical system off the Texas coast has developed into Tropical Storm Arthur. NHC forecasters expect Arthur to move inland over southwestern Louisiana by tonight. While the center of circulation will hover over the western part of the state, forecasters expect the heaviest rainfall over the Baton Rouge area and the Northshore.

Since 2022, the city of New Orleans has experienced a drastic drop in violent crimes. According to Metropolitan Crime Commission statistics, homicides year-to-date have fallen by 75 percent, carjackings are down 78 percent, and overall shootings and armed robberies are down by two-thirds.
