Most furniture design tells a story in layers. A frame, a cushion, an upholstery, a finish. By the time you sit down, you're resting on a series of decisions stacked on top of each other, most of which you'll never see. The 010 Lounge Chair by Athens-based OFAA does the opposite. It peels back every assumption about what a chair is supposed to be and hands you 5 mm of folded aluminium instead. That sounds cold. I know it does. And maybe that's the point.

At some point, most of us made peace with the idea that the charging situation on our desks would always be a little ugly. A tangle of cables running to a flat power strip wedged behind the monitor, a USB hub perpetually on the verge of toppling, a wall wart blocking every outlet beside it. We accepted the chaos because the alternative was supposedly to sacrifice power for aesthetics, or aesthetics for power. The MFish E-Tank 7-in-1 Desktop Charging Station argues that's a false choice. After looking closely at what this thing actually delivers, I think it has a strong point.

If you walked through Alcova at Milan Design Week this past April, odds are you found yourself gravitating toward a large green seating installation that seemed to have its own pull. People were sitting on it, around it, leaning against it. Conversations were happening. Music was playing. Nobody was rushing to the next booth. The piece was called Transit Encounters, and it was the work of Paris-based studio Supaform, led by designer Maxim Shcherbakov.

Pet furniture has always occupied that slightly awkward middle ground between function and forgettable. You buy it because you have to, shove it in a corner, and try not to look directly at it when guests come over. Most cat scratchers, in particular, exist in a category of design that can be charitably described as “utilitarian beige nightmare.” They do what they need to do and nothing more. Pet JoJo, a brand clearly done with that arrangement, has built something worth actually looking at.
